Florence

The last stop on our journey was beautiful Florence, one of the art capitals of the world.  In pursuit of the masters, Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Brunelleschi, we visited the Uffizi Gallery, La Accademia and the Duomo where we were awed by the magnificent David and the other wonderful masterpieces.  The art and history of this city are remarkable.

A hike up to the Abbazia di San Miniato al Monte resulted in a panoramic view of the city and countryside.  What a picturesque spot!  We walked over 12 miles that day!  On the way down, a stop at the Gelateria Passera known for its fantastic gelato. We ate dinner at Trattoria Diladdarno (twice in three days) stuffing ourselves with the to-die-for fried bread (coccoli) with cheese (stracchino) and the famous Florentine steak. There isn’t enough time to sample all the fantastic cuisine.

The people, the culture, the countryside—how could we not come home enthused to bring our experiences to our designs?
