What can you say about Venice other than it’s magical. Coming around the corner from the train station in your water taxi into the Grand Canal is breathtaking, so much for your eye to behold. The activity, the colors, the beautiful historical buildings. Unloading from the boat right into your hotel’s gateway was unreal. From our hotel room above the small canal we could hear the voices of tourists from the gondolas gliding by.
118 small islands, no roads, just a maze of canals and 400 bridges linking them together. Full of history, famous architecture and beautiful Venetian art. It was a wonderful 3 days; amazing us with culture and beautiful sites of Venice. The food and hotel were excellent: La Saturnia and its restaurant, La Caravella were the best. We continued our research for the best gelato at Suso; must have walked by it several times before we found it! The Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Plaza, to the open-air fish market were experiences not to be missed. The tour by locals took us through mysterious alleyways and by the small artisan shops from the traditional masks to the colorful Murano glass. We left inspired to continue our passion of making creative exquisite ties.
